TNA May PPV > WWE May PPV; Jill Jarrett passes away; WWE/TNA news

Okay, I was a bit busy lately so I haven't posted in 2 weeks, but I still managed to watch all the shows and PPVs that WWE and TNA had to offer. Also some of the news were sad and tragic, but at least one news managed to bring a little smile on my face.

As you see in my title, the main topic in my title is the fact that TNA 'outwrestled' WWE in the quality of this month's PPVs. Now it doesn't mean that WWE's Judgment Day PPV sucked - it was average, but what TNA gave us with Sacrifice PPV was outstanding. The best PPV of 2007, definitely, and although I haven't seen all TNA PPVs, I would be surprised if it wasn't put on Top 5 list of best TNA PPVs of all time.

Okay, here is the review of TNA Sacrifice 2007 PPV

Mike Tenay and Don West welcome the fans to the show and we start with an oustanding X Division Championship match

WINNER: Chris Sabin @ 13:09 via pin ***½

- this was great opener, although my pick at first was Jay Lethal, at the middle of the match I had a 'change of heart' and thought that Dutt has this one in the bag after hitting the beautiful 450 Splash. Sabin one in the end, but I didn't mind - great match

-Dutt and Machismo argue after the match and BRAWL! Nash is out and tries to break it up. Dutt leg kicks Nash and leaves!

-JB is with Roode and Brooks. JB asks where Eric is and Roode says at home, because he owns him. He says that JJ may be a former champion, but tonight he will MAKE Robert Roode. When He beats him, Roode will go from star to superstar. He owns Eric and tonight will own JJ. It pays to be Roode.

-Back in the arena, Nash calls out Dutt. Thursday night, on Impact, Dutt is Nash's.

-Tenay and West hype the card. They are talking about all the titles as "TNA" Titles. (That's right, no more NWA titles - they're all TNA titles and I absolutely love the look of the new TNA World CHampionship)

-Earlier today, at a fan meet and greet, Damaja and Basham attack the VKM. They toss BG through a table. Nice. BG was taken to the hospital, I suppose Hoyt will replace him, which may be for the best.

-We get a video package for Roode vs. JJ.

WINNER: Robert Roode @ 13:12 via pin ***

-Roode is improving with every appearance and I really believe he will be wearing gold around his waist soon. Jarrett gave a great performance and I respect him for that considering the severity of all the personal trouble.

-Roode says he shocked the world and laid out Young with a guitar, and will do the same to JJ. JJ is back and cuts him off and gets the figure four on Roode. Brooks is back and has the guitar, but Eric is here to save the day! FIGURE FOUR ON BROOKS! JJ and Eric stand tall.

-Christian is having a victory party with Steiner and AJ. Leticia asks if it is too soon. He says that Steiner and Tomko will win the tag straps, and then AJ will embarrass Joe. Steiner stops him and says Tomko isn't here. He says if he doesn't come, Cage will be at fault. Steiner says to but buy a watch and send a telegram. AJ then says it won't be pretty and will beat Joe. The towel doesn't scare him. They have his back and then blow him off. Cage will then defend the title as Angle and Sting will kill each other.

Off the ropes and a GORE by Rhino! 1…2…and Daniels gets the ropes. Daniels gets the bat on the floor and NAILS Rhino in the head. In and covers for the win.

WINNER: Christopher Daniels @ 10:06 via pin **¼

- this was an OK match, but I believe that Daniels should've been put over cleanly. It wouldn't hurt Rhino that much, and Daniels would become a credible contender for any title. Well - there are more chances to do that.

-Rhino on the mic. He didn't come here to lose or be cheated. He's going to kick his ass and chases Daniels down the tube.

-They brawl back out and Daniels is busted open. Rhino has a chair and kills Daniels with it.

He tosses a chair into the ring and then Daniels. He sets them up and takes him to the corner…chairs set up…security is out and stops the Rhino Driver try. Daniels escapes. Crowd doesn't, like it.

-We get a history of Hemme vs. the VKM.

-JB is with Kip. He says he will not quit. They took his partner, his brother to the hospital. This is a whole new level. He assures us that he will come to fight. He knows Hemme is behind it and this is not fun and games. He says she will get hers.

Backdrop by Kip. Rights to Basham. Damaja gets the Brain Damage and Basham up top…head butt connects and that is all thankfully.

WINNERS: Basham and Damaja @ 4:30 via pin (*3/4)

- boring, this didn't deserve to take place on the PPV card. At least it was cut short. But I would rather have given this 4:30 minutes to the next match.

-After the match Kip fights, but they beat him down to no heat. Hoyt is here and they back off.

-We get a video history of the AMW feud.

-Leticia is with Harris. What is going through his mind is this, AMW. They once meant something, the heart and soul of AMW. Storm forgot that and ended the team. All he had to do was ask, but he ended it by trying to end his career. Today he gets his career back. He got some revenge, but tonight he gets payback for 5-months of a nightmare. Tonight it becomes Storm's nightmare.

WINNER: Chris Harris @ 17:18 via Not Answering the Count ****1/2

- this is a match of the year candidate. It's like Harris/Storm wanted to make it up for that horrifying match at Lockdown (although it wasn't their fault). These two guys have given everything they've got in their bodies. The way storm was bleeding was absolutely scary. Harris was incredible - better give him a World title push!

-Sting and Daniels argue, and Daniels says he did things his way. He leaves and Sting says Angle is a bitch. Basically. As for Cage, no need to stir the pot, Angle has done that well enough himself.

-The ring crew changes the mat, which is soaked in blood.

He kills the lighting and says it is a door behind him, nothing special, like Sting. Angle doesn't need tricks like Sting, like a BEOTCH. Angle is a wrestler and Sting is a cartoon. Angle will school him it's real, it is damn real.

-They announce Angle as the champion as we head off the air.

WINNER: and new champion Kurt Angle @ 10:59 via Submission ***

- I was expecting a bit more although this one had some exciting moments. I marked out like a 4 year old when Angle locked a double Ankle Lock on Sting and Christian. But, Angle isn't the champ because the match ended in huge controversy.

So now, on next TNA PPV Slammiversary (June 17th) in Nashville, we will crown the new, or should I say the first TNA World Champion. Looking at the current card I'll pick Samoa Joe, but if AJ Styles gets added, then he will be my favorite to win this. TNA needs to capitalize on his heel turn.

In the end, I recommend to all to get TNA Sacrifice 2007 when it's published on DVD. It had a lot of good matches. And Harris/Storm match is a MOTY candidate.

And Now the review of WWE Judgment Day 2007 follows

Judgment Day 2007 took place in St. Louis, MO in Scottrade Center

Commentators from RAW, ECW, Smackdown!, and of course the Spanish team of Savinovic/Cabrera welcome the fans to the show.
The PPV starts with the match between Carlito and Ric Flair. Carlito is a heel so WWE should get him a some mean Puertorican music.

  • Opening Match: Ric Flair vs. Carlito.
Carlito now has darker, more evil tights. Now get him some real music. Flair chops away and blocks a sunset flip early. Carlito bails and stalls, prompting Flair to lose his cool and go after him, which allows Carlito to yank his arm down on the ropes. Carlito targets the arm throughout the rest of the match. He does a decent job, but Flair needs more offense in order to keep things interesting. As it is, the fans just kind of tune out until the inevitable big comeback. Flair fires back with a back elbow and a backdrop, which, I believe, count as Flair's first non-chop offensive moves. He chop-blocks Carlito's knee and blocks the Backstabber by grabbing the ropes. Flair stomps on Carlito's knee a few times and finishes with the figure-four at 15:36. **1/2

  • - After this match all I had left to ask was does Ric Flair still have it. After all this rumors of him retiring, I think that he deserves one more short title run. I think it would attract a lot of Old School viewers and most importantly Flair deserves it, and it would be a shocker if he was the one to beat John Cena for the WWE title.

  • Shawn Michaels tries to explain how he's going to gut it out tonight, but Randy Orton jumps him and tosses him headfirst into the set.

  • ECW World Title, Handicap Match: Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon & Umaga vs. Bobby Lashley.
Lashley goes right after Vince early, hoping to avoid a repeat of Backlash where Vince stood on the apron the entire match. Shane jumps him from behind, but Umaga's help backfires, and he avalanches Shane. Lashley powerslams Shane for the win and the title at 1:14. Oh, but Vince decides he doesn't want to lose the title and says that Lashley didn't beat him so the title doesn't change hands. *

  • - Lashley dominated the entire match, but wait - it was only a bit over the minute. The reason why is because both Lashley and Umaga were mildly injured, and WWE was probably preserving them for the One Night Stand PPV. Anyhow, this is one of the matches I expect the most - becuase it's a street fight - and Mr. McMahon is in it - expect to see some good spots!

  • CM Punk vs. Elijah Burke.
Punk irks me right of the bat by coming in with his ribs taped up like Dallas Page after a tummy tuck and then hopping in over the ropes instead of selling the injury. Punk tries his usual Muay Thai stuff, but Burke goes after the ribs and punches Punk right in the face. Punk hits a delayed vertical suplex as Joey ponders what that's doing to his ribs. Apparently nothing because Punk rolls over and gets two. He also hits a crossbody a few minutes later. For a better example of how that's supposed to go, check out Ricky Steamboat hitting the same move on Steven Regal at Fall Brawl '93 and then doubling over in pain like he'd been gutted. Punk uses that Jericho springboard dropkick to send Elijah out and then hits a suicida. Back in, Burke locks in a bodyscissors. The fans are distracted by JBL for some reason, though, so they're not too interested. Punk goes for an Exploder and gets small packaged for two. Punk catches Burke going up and hits a top-rope superplex. Burke counters a bulldog but misses the Elijah Express. He slips out of the Go2Sleep and hits an STO. NICE! He crotches Punk on the top and hits the Elijah Experience. Punk gets his foot on the ropes, though, and hits the Go2Sleep for the win at 16:52. The first half of the match was them trying to work an old-school match based around the rib injury, but that wasn't working out, so they just said, "To hell with it," and did a normal (better) match. **1/2

  • Randy Orton vs. Shawn Michaels.
Orton demands to be declared the winner by forfeit since the doctor says Shawn can't wrestle, but a glassy-eyed Shawn comes out anyway. Is Marty Janetty back in town? The ref rings the bell, so Orton jumps him and hits a rope-assisted DDT. Shawn won't let himself be pinned, though. Shawn goes to the eyes and hits the not-so-Picture-Perfect Elbow. Shawn tunes up the band but crumbles mid-move. The ref rules that Shawn can't continue, handing the match over to Orton at 4:31. Orton waits for Shawn to get up and then gives him an RKO. That brings out Shawn's wife to check on him, and the EMTs have to wheel him out. The big question here was what to do since Shawn couldn't do a normal match due to his knee injury. Do you have Orton take him out and then squash somebody trying to intervene on Shawn's behalf so you can at least deliver a match? Or, do you do something like this and build Orton up for when Triple H comes back? After going back and forth on the issue, I think they probably did the right thing. Beating the crap out of someone else doesn't have the same emotional impact of beating up Shawn Michaels. For once, they're actually looking forward and sacrificing the here and now. 1/2*

  • The Great Khali says if Cena wants some, he can come get some.

  • World Tag Team Titles: The Hardy Boyz vs. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch.
JBL objects to Cade and Murdoch's face turn because he thinks they won't be successful. They trade a few moves with Cade and Murdoch refusing to cheat. JBL responding to Cole's adjective of "unorthodox": Unorthodox is wearing jeans to a business meeting! He also buries Cole's point about Batista not being a rule-breaker, despite being trained by Triple H and Ric Flair. JBL: And he didn't beat the Undertaker, did he? Matt plays face-in-peril as Cade & Murdoch try to keep things interesting without cheating. Matt gets his knees up to block a pump-splash. Jeff gets the hot tag, and the Hardyz clear the ring. The match settles down again as they do a reset, and Jeff falls to the floor off a charge to turn him into the face-in-peril. The fans are distracted again by someone getting kicked out by security. St. Louis: the home of Anheuser-Busch. WEST TEXAS DESTROYER! It gets two. Cole burns JBL right back by asking if "being aggressive" means breaking FEC regulations too. Matt gets the hot tag but runs into a uranage-spinebuster (and JBL even references Hiroshi Hase!). Matt fights back and hits the Twist of Fate. Jeff finishes with the Swanton Bomb at 15:00. Good match, but the reformed heel act overwhelms everything Cade & Murdoch do. Plus, the fans just aren't that into them yet. Can't fault the effort from both teams, though. **3/4

  • And to back up my point, they show a poll asking who is most likely to win a title tonight – Cade and Murdoch get 1-percent. But then the fans picked Batista, so what do they know?

  • World Heavyweight Title: Edge vs. Batista.
The ref actually stops to explain the rules. Nice touch. Edge cowers for the first few minutes. He misses a charge and falls to the floor. Batista scoops him up for a slam, which is never good, and it's not good in this case either because Edge slips off his shoulder and throws him into the steps. Back in, Edge goes after the arm instead of Batista's taped thigh. Gotta question that strategy. Batista catches him with a clothesline and gets two off a powerslam. Edge hits the Edge-O-Matic and sets up for the spear, but Batista hits a spear of his own. ONE, TWO, THR-NO! Batista hits a spinebuster but his leg buckles, and Edge quickly schoolboys him for the win at 10:38. I give them credit for trying to work the taped leg into the finish, but Edge's no-sell and immediate pop-up after the spinebuster is unintentionally hilarious. **1/2

  • - I really liked this match but the finish was messed up, and I didn't like Edge's immediate recovery after the spinebuster. That's why I took some points off.

  • Backstage, Kristal gets some expert prognostication from the Divas regarding the main event.

  • U.S. Title, 2/3 Falls: Chris Benoit vs. MVP.
First Fall: A stiff lock-up puts them on the outside, and they head back in to bitchslap each other. Benoit goes after the Crossface early, but MVP makes the ropes and grabs a headlock. Cole notes that MVP debuted on the same show where Benoit won the US Title. MVP trips Benoit up on a dropdown, re-injuring that knee that was hit by the shillelagh on Smackdown. Benoit fires back with chops and locks in the Crippler Crossface, but MVP gets his foot on the ropes. MVP tries a running Kawada kick, but Benoit avoids it and locks in the Sharpshooter. MVP is close to the ropes, though, so he makes the ropes again. He chop-blocks Benoit's leg out from under him. MVP gets caught going up, and Benoit tries an Electric Chair Drop, but his leg buckles. MVP is in perfect position, so he just hits the Playmaker at 8:14. Great finish.

Second Fall: Benoit's leg buckles again, this time on a whip. MVP pounds on it over the apron. He drags Benoit back in and hangs Benoit in the tree-of-woe and then hits that Kawada kick to the knee. See, that ability of a wrestler to adapt his offense to the storyline of the match is the mark of a good wrester. Compare that to some of the other matches on the card where the storyline would normally inhibit certain moves but the wrestler does them anyway because they don't know what else to do. Benoit goes for another Crossface, but MVP reverses to an Argentine Kneerack, but Benoit makes the ropes. MVP elbows out of another Crossface attempt and rolls over to a small package. Benoit tries to counter to a Sharpshooter, but MVP snaps his leg and rolls him over into a small package for the win and the title at 14:09. Wow! Two straight over Benoit. I've read a lot of feedback that says this was disappointing, and while I don't think it's on the level of some of their recent matches, it's hardly a bad match, and a lot of people have been complaining that we don't get to see a heel win cleanly over the babyface - well, there you have it. ***1/2

  • - A very good match, and it was smart decision to make MVP the new US champion. Now, I hope Benoit will feud with Edge, and not be buried in the lower mid-card. I could really watch these two wrestle each other any day.

  • WWE Heavyweight Title: John Cena vs. The Great Khali.
Khali hits a big clubbing clothesline early, which JR calls compares to "felonious assault." Clothesline. Legdrop. Clothesline. Legdrop. You get the idea. Cena hits the Throwback, but Khali brushes him off. Khali hits a roundhouse kick…while standing in Branson. Cena powers out of a nerve hold and shoulderblocks Khali into the ropes. Cena flails away, but Khali frees himself. Cena blocks a chop but gets tossed to the floor. He improvises and kicks the steps into the Khali's knee. Khali slowly crawls back in, so Cena comes off the top with a legdrop to the back of the head. An STFU finishes at 8:16, but Khali's foot was clearly under the ropes, so look for the feud to continue. They score points for working a smart match, but the finish leaves a lot to be desired, especially since Khali had been shown to be virtually unbeatable. So the submission finish was not a very smart thing to do. **

  • - I'd be more happy with a DQ finish then this

    NEWS

Latest rumors from the WWE say that a lot of wrestlers backstage are basically 'petitioning' for Ric Flair to get his final World title run. I wouldn't mind it. In fact, I would like to share with you what David from Massachusetts wrote on how to give Flair his 17th World title. I loved it - hope you will, too!

At One Night Stand, Flair loses a first blood match to Carlito. After the match, Carlito is mocking a bleeding Flair backstage when Cena comes in to check on him and get rid of Carlito. Flair goes NUTS giving Cena a similar rant that he gave to Carlito months ago about the young guy taking his spot and Cena being a blip on the radar while he is Ric Flair and on the Mt. Rushmore of Pro-Wrestling. He screams at Cena for being a rapper and taking time off to make albums and leaves all crazy. Cena retains and beats Khali in the main event.
On Raw: Flair calls out Cena. He apologizes and calls him the future and says he was just upset. He says he is jealous of Cena because he sees Cena as a new Ric Flair and a Horsemen. Cena tells him there is only one Ric Flair and offers him a title match TONIGHT! Coach interrupts because he is a prick and says Cena doesn't make matches. He says Flair is not championship material because he is 58 years old. Cena brings up Vince at 60+ being the ECW Champion until ONS. Coach says they can wrestle tonight as a tag team against Khali and UMAGA. Flair and Cena in the main event get DQ' ed and use chairs to clear out the heels and stand tall.
Next Week on Raw: Cena and Flair are in the ring. Coach comes out and says Flair can have his title match against Cena, but he has to win his match tonight. He is facing Khali and UMAGA in a Handicap match, which is No DQ (because of the chair use last week), and if Cena interferes, he has authority from Vince to not only strip Cena of the title but fire Flair TONIGHT! Flair gets mauled in the main event and Cena comes out to the apron to distract the heels and Coach when BOBBY LASHLEY (ECW Champ) jumps the guardrail and destroys the heels with chairshots and Spears Umaga. He kills Coach with a powerslam, and takes his hand Austin style and counts the pin. Flair wins and is #1 Contender!
Vengeance: Cena is out wrestling Flair and dominating every part of the match. Flair gets sporadic offense and a figure 4 attempt but Cena counters and controls. Cena locks in the STFU but Flair gets the ropes. Cena plays the match as if he doesn't want to beat Flair. He has Flair in the dead center of the ring and goes for the 5-Knuckle Shuffle but in a call back to Vader vs. Flair at Starrcade 93, Flair clips the leg and rolls Cena up out of nowhere (using the tights of course) for the win and title!!! Cena stands there shocked and Flair is a mix of blood, sweat and tears.
Raw: You have a Flair celebration cut off by Randy Orton. "Legend Killer...blah blah blah" but Flair says he owes Cena a rematch. Orton weasels in and at Summerslam we have a Triple Threat between Flair/Cena/Orton which segues into a Cena/Orton feud until the H's come back.

Also, the following wrestlers have been released from the WWE - Nick Mitchell (AKA NIcky from the Spirit Squad), Scott Taylor (AKA Scotty 2 Hotty) and Shelley Martinez (AKA Ariel from ECW).

While the release of Nick Mitchell was nothing special, the releases of Scotty and Ariel were quite a shocker for me. First, Scotty was a good cruiserweight, 'glorified jobber' etc. (still one of my favorites is his match with Dean Malenko from Backlash 2000). Scotty said on his web page that he doesn't hold any grudge against the WWE, and that he received more then he expected for staying with the biggest wrestling company in the world for so long. So Scotty is a great guy in my book.

Ariel, was fired becuase of an altercation with Batista. Apparently standing out for the women who weren't given the respect they deserve by Batista. So the news say that Batista became a very arrogant man lately, and now the WWE had to decide who to release and they chose the 'less profitable' superstar. The rumors also say that Ariel wasn't very popular with Stephanie McMahon which might also be one of the factors that affected her release. I just wish that could've been solved differently because Ariel was a unique character, a good wrestler in OVW, and had quite a fan following. I just wish that WWE would change their minds and hire her back - but it probably won't happen.

Top Ten Edge matches + Last night's ECW recap

Today, Mysterious A is giving you the Top Ten Edge matches in celebration of the Rated R Superstar's world title win last week. So let's get down to business.

    The Top Ten Edge Matches

    10) Edge and Christian vs. The Hardyz(10/17/99)
This match was the first tag team ladder match to ever take place in the WWE and also the finals of the Terri Invitational Tournament where her own managerial services and a wad of cash were up for grabs. All four guys busted out some awesome never-before-seen spots that many people thought solidified these four men as future stars, which it did. A tremendous match that got all the guys involved standing ovations both on the night and at the next Raw. This would be a sign of things to come from these guys.

    9) Edge vs. Kurt Angle (04/21/02)
This whole feud was kind of put together because neither guy had anything to do at the time, with Edge fresh off the back of the infamous Booker T/shampoo commercial feud. This was the first match in the series between Kurt Angle and Edge in 2002 (this particular match taking place at Backlash) and in my opinion, this was the best, albeit shortest of the series. It was non-stop back and forth action but eventually it was Kurt Angle who came out on top with an Angle Slam.

    8) Shelton Benjamin vs. Edge vs. Chris Jericho vs. Kane vs. Christian vs. Chris Benoit (04/02/05)
As you'' realise this is the first ever Money in the Bank Ladder match with six guys participating to secure a contract for a future world championship opportunity. This was a really innovative match and all six participants played a vital role in making the match work as well as it did. Shelton Benjamin in particular truly shined in this match as he produced his now famous ladder run/clothesline off the ladder move on Chris Jericho. On several occasions it seemed as if Chris Benoit had the match won after he connected with a Swandive headbutt on Kane busting himself open in the process. As he was climbing the ladder, Edge used a steel chair to the arm (which various superstar had been targeting) to knock the wolverine off of the ladder and then claim the Money in the Bank briefcase. This would mark Edge's first huge win that would propel him to his first WWE Championship the next year.

    7) Edge and Christian vs. The Dudleyz vs. The Hardyz (04/01/01)
This was the Tables, Ladders and Chairs II match that took place at one of the greatest wrestling pay-per-views of all time, WrestleMania X-Seven in the Houston Astrodome. While this was not as good as the original it certainly has its own unique appeal. Each time had their own run-in during this match who all got involved physically. Spike Dudley interfered for the Dudleyz, Lita helped out the Hardyz while Rhyno came to the aid of Edge and Christian. Despite Jeff Hardy delivering a Swanton Bomb through a table to Rhyno and Spike, the man-beast's help proved vital as he assisted Christian to the top of the ladder while Edge held back D-Von Dudley. This was also the match where arguably the greatest TLC spot took place. Jeff Hardy, dangling from the tag title belts with nothing but air underneath him, was speared to the ground by Edge diving off of a 20 ft ladder. Both men were folded up like the proverbial accordion. Tremendous spotfest here.

    6) Edge and Christian vs. The Hardyz vs. The Dudleyz (04/02/00)
This match took place a year earlier at WrestleMania 2000 and was the triangle ladder match. Coming off the success of the Hardyz/E&C ladder match six months earlier, these guys wanted to take it to the next level and they sure as hell did it here. By the end of the match, this had become TLC before TLC was invented in the E. This match was longer than either of the two TLC matches and it's amazing that these six men were able to keep throwing out great spot after great spot, and there wasn't even that much down time. In the end, it was Matt Hardy, Edge and Christian all on a table prompted by two set up ladders. Hardy was touching the gold but in an awesome prelude to the way Edge's character would eventually go, that sneaky S.O.B. crept behind Hardy and pushed off the structure and through another table below, which got completely obliterated. Another fantastic match from a combination of the Hardyz/Dudz and E & C.

    5) Edge and Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit (11/07/02)
Because I know Julian would have wanted to do something towards this weeks column, this blurb is from last week's column as this match was included in the top 10 SmackDown matches.

This was a 2/3 falls match for the WWE tag team titles that was a rematch of their No Mercy encounter, which was perhaps the best pure tag team match of the 21st century. These men had a lot to live up to following that classic performance and they delivered with this instantly memorable exhibition. The action in this match was way too fast to try to recap, but the first fall came after an alley-oop hurricarana by Edge & Rey onto Benoit which was followed up by a double-team powerbomb which put Benoit down for three and gave Edge & Rey a one fall advantage. A few minutes later, Edge got clocked with a title belt after attempting a spear and got caught in the Anklelock and had no choice but to tap which evened the match at one fall a piece. The next few minutes featured both teams desperately not trying to lose the deciding fall until Rey was able to roll up Angle for the three count, but Angle had his feet in the ropes which created a controversy. After a few minutes of deliberation, it was decided that the match must continue and that there would a fourth fall which would determine the winner. The match ended when Edge countered an Anklelock by rolling through and Rey hit Angle with a 619 from the floor which enabled Edge to hit him with a spear for the three count. This was a fantastic match that I could watch over and over again and never be bored of it.

    4) Edge vs. Eddie Guerrero (09/26/02)
This match was the culmination of the Edge/Eddie feud that included a fantastic match at Summerslam 2002. This match was No DQ and saw these two men beat the absolute crap out of each other. Some of the highlights of this match included Eddie delivering a hilo while Edge was sandwiched in between two ladders, Eddie delivering a sunset flip powerbomb from the top of a ladder, Eddie getting backdropped upside down into a ladder, and Edge hitting Eddie with an implant DDT from the top of a ladder which was enough to end the match. This was an absolutely insane match and one of the best matches I've seen on free TV EVER!

    3) Edge vs. Mick Foley (04/02/06)
This was the Hardcore match from WrestleMania 22.

While this match is largely remembered for the one flaming table spot, there were many more cool factors in this match. Some of the head shots with various weapons were just completely brutal, and then there was all the barbed wire action, which actually caught up with Lita eventually as she received a barbed-wire-covered Socko. Mick Foley, looking for his WrestleMania moment, may not have won this match but he definitely gave the Chicago crowd something to remember him by. Some credit also should go to Lita who put her body on the line on many occasions in this match included the aforementioned Mr. Sock spot and taking a sick bump to the floor riding on the back of Foley who was giving the Cactus clothesline to Edge. In the end it was Lita's interference that resulted in the final spot. When Lita hit Foley with the barbed wire 2x4, it allowed Edge to deliver the Spear off the ring apron through the flaming table. This is undoubtedly one of the greatest hardcore matches of all time and really the match that solidified Edge's main event status.

    2) Edge and Christian vs. The Hardyz vs. The Dudleyz (08/27/00)
Tables, Ladders, and Chairs! Oh-my! This was the original TLC match that took place at Summerslam. First thing that needs to be said is that the wrong guys went over here. The Hardys were in their hometown of North Carolina and could have done with the victory more than eventual winners E & C. I feel we were denied a special moment there, but it is hard to complain because this match was so good. I still think to this day that this is the best TLC match. Matt Hardy took a sick backwards bump off a ladder through a table that could have been a career-ender if it had not been measured perfectly. Even Lita was injured when Edge nailed her with a Spear on the floor (oh, the irony) and she hit her head on the very corner of a ladder laying at ringside. But it was Bubba Dudley who took the 4 table bump from the 20ft ladder and just like WrestleMania, Edge and Christian quite literally ascended to the top and won the tag team championships.

    1) Edge and Rey Mysterio vs. Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit (10/20/02)
This was the finals of the tag team tournament to crown SmackDown's first WWE Tag Team Champions. Edge and Rey had knocked off Ron Simmons and D-Von in the semis while Angle and Benoit got passed Los Guerreros in an excellent match on SmackDown. This truly was a tremendous match and deserves its status as MOTY for 2002. They went 20+ minutes in an all out war that would not be topped by any of the other tremendous matches between the awesome SmackDown Six (Benoit, Angle, Edge, Mysterio, Eddie, Chavo). In the end it was Edge who tap out to Kurt Angle's Ankle Lock and the unlikely duo of Angle and Benoit won the tag team titles. It was matches like this that made the guys in the back really think that Edge could be a huge star someday and look where he is now.

And as usually here is the ECW (5/15/2007) recap

So the word came today from WWE.com that Sabu got released. That really does suck as it appears that Rob Van Dam and the rest of the originals will be gone soon. Hopefully McMahon does a reality check and realizes that a third brand is not needed anymore.

    And the action starts now!

We open with a video package from last night's Lashley vs. Coach match from last night. The typical video, including the beat down afterwards and a slow motion title to the head.

We then go to McMahon life via Satellite at WWE Studios. McMahon blames Lashley for having to wear that dorky dew rag or whatever he's wearing and brags about knocking him out last night. Lashley faces The New Breed tonight, just like he is down 3 to 1 this Sunday, with a named judge, jury, and executioner this time in himself, Shane, and Umaga. We go to the opening video and straight to the opening match with Joey Styles and Tazz at ringside.

    Rob Van Dam vs. Snitsky

Styles says that this match with Snitsky is punishment by Mr. McMahon for standing up to him. We go to a quick break with RVD hitting the ring.

We come back and RVD is still waiting on the freak Snitsky. Interesting that they are using the normal Smackdown entrance tonight, not the separate entrance they usually have. Styles now says that he thinks this is punishment. The bell rings and RVD tries some kicks, but Snitsky just lifts up RVD and tosses him. RVD goes back to the kicks and hits a low dropkick, but he gets planted with a huge powerslam. Snitsky stomps away on RVD and lifts him back up for a bodyslam. Elbow drops from Snitsky get a two count on RVD. Snitsky with a one arm headlock and some clubs to the chest on RVD before backing him in a corner for an illegal choke. Tazz goes into Snitsky's ugliness, including his teeth, but we don't get a close up. Snitsky connects with a very nice vertical suplex for a two count. One arm headlock and more clubs by Snitsky again. RVD gets backed into the corner and Snitsky uses the boot for another illegal choke. Snitsky hooks RVD in the double underhook, but RVD gets his second wind and uses his knees to free himself. RVD into the corner, but Snitsky charges and misses. Kick to the head of Snitsky and RVD connects with a springboard dropkick to take the big man down. RVD with a running spin kick and Snitsky stays up. Snitsky avoids the diving savate kick and RVD catches the boot for a windmill kick. Snitsky avoids rolling thunder, but then RVD avoids the big boot as Snitsky gets hung up on the top rope. Snitsky gets dumped to the outside and RVD follows, but gets met with a huge clothesline. Snitsky gets pissed and grabs a steel chair. He runs half way around the ring and blasts RVD in the head for the DQ at 6:10. Tazz says it looks like Snitsky just got pissed off. RVD is just out cold as Snitsky backs up the ramp.

    Winner: Rob Van Dam

Before we go to the break, we get a hype video for CM Punk as he is in action next.

    CM Punk vs. Stevie Richards

WE are back from the break and CM Punk is coming down to the ring for his match, ribs still very heavily taped due to his match from last week with Marcus Cor Von. And hey, it's another Stevie Sighting!! The bell rings and Punk plays the cat and mouse game and kicks Richards in the chest. A ton of kicks keeps Richards at bay and hits an exploder suplex for a two count. Richards catches Punk with a knee to the gut and then goes after the wrapping. He gets it all off and stomps away on the injured ribs of Punk. Punk fights back with some kicks, but Richards knees Punk in the gut and then hits a kick to the spine for a two count. Stevie locks in a Bow and Arrow on CM Punk, but Punk rolls into a pin for a two count. He rolls into another two count. Punk tries a sunset flip, but Richards leaps into a double stomps to the ribcage for a two count. Abdominal Stretch locked in by Richards, but Punk battles out and flips Richards over with a hip toss. Richards with another kick to the gut in the corner. Richards charges, but Punk avoids it and hits some kicks to the back, followed by a neckbreaker for a two count. Richards whipped to the corner and Punk lands the high knee. Bulldog is avoided as Richards gets the boots up. Punk in the corner and Stevie goes for the tornado DDT, but Punk catches him coming off and hits the Go2Sleep for the three count at 4:32. Punk really looks hurt as he has trouble getting up without clutching his ribs.

    Winner: CM Punk

Backstage, The New Breed are watching and Burke makes sure they are ready. Cor Von says he was born ready and Burke refuses to let Striker talk, saying he needs to right himself before he can talk again. Burke then talks about defeating Lashley tonight and destroying Punk on Sunday.

    Kevin Thorn vs. Nunzio

Back from the break and Kevin Thorn comes out with Ariel as they go over how he quit The New Breed. Thorn now has red smoke at ringside when he enters the ring with Ariel. Looks pretty cool and the extra red light makes it looks freaky. The bell rings and the lock up forces Nunzio back into the corner. Thorn is extra aggressive with elbows and boots. Thorn grabs Nunzio and chucks him all the way across the ring by his head. Jawbreaker by Nunzio, but Thorn no sells it and continues to pound away. Nunzio uses a boot to create some space and Nunzio gets a head scissors, but Thorn turns it into a powerbomb for a two count. Ref having a tough time keeping Thorn under control, but Thorn continues to strike down Nunzio. Sidewalks Slam by Thorn gets a two count. Nunzio keeps fighting back with body shots, but it has no effect. Rear choke is locked on by Thorn on Nunzio. Nunzio breaks free and comes off the ropes, but he gets caught and is back into the corner. Nunzio fights back again and hits a dropkick from the top rope on Thorn for a two count. Nunzio goes for a springboard, but Thorn catches him for a dark kiss and a three count at 3:57.

    Winner: Kevin Thorn

After a Condemned video, we see that the Extreme Expose comes after the break. Seriously, why do they keep pushing his movie on us when every number shows that it was a complete and utter flop? I saw it, I kinda liked it, I'll buy the DVD, but I'll never get why they show us details on a movie that might not be out there this weekend anywhere.

We are back and it is Extreme Expose with "Sexy Back" by Justin Timberlake. Again, same shit, different week, and it is hard to tell, but I think the crowd is turning on it as well. I hate to say it, but thank god.

We get the opening video package again from last night with Bobby Lashley and his situation with the McMahon alliance.

Lashley then gives us a promo, stating that he will be seeing the McMahons and Umaga across the ring tonight and that on Sunday, with the no touch rule being gone, he will take back the ECW Championship.

Bobby Lashley vs. The New Breed (Burke, Cor Von, and Striker)

The New Breed comes out first as we go to a commercial break. Back from the break and out comes Lashley. The look in Lashley's eyes are amazing as he stares at that ring. The bell rings and Lashley will start with Burke. Burke gets some knees to the gut and locks in a headlock. Burke off the ropes and he gets met with a shoulder block. Lashley lifts up Burke for a huge delayed vertical suplex. Burke rushes to the corner and takes in Cor Von. They stare down each other for like 15 seconds and they lock up and Lashley with a go behind. Lashley with a standing leapfrog to avoid Cor Von off the ropes and hits a shoulder block. Striker tags himself in to try and prove himself but is quickly slammed down by Lashley. Striker gets dumped to the outside and Burke starts mouthing off and gets decked by Burke. Cor Von comes in from behind and irish whips Lashley and connects with the PPPPOOOUUNNCCEEEE!!! Lashley ends up flying over the top rope and crashes to the floor! Burke comes back in a tries to pick up the cheap win, but Lashley kicks out at two. Lashley gets the advantage again, but Burke is able to tag in Cor Von. Cor Von slams Lashley down and locks in a chin lock. Lashley battles back and whips Cor Von. Cor Von ducks a clothesline and hits a back suplex. Burke gets tagged in and gets a two count. Burke locks in a modified abdominal stretch, but Lashley battles out and connects with a belly to belly suplex. Burke rushes to his corner and tags in Cor Von. Striker gets tossed into the ring and Lashley hits the shoulder blocks in the corner. Lashley with a clothesline on Striker. Striker gets whipped to the ropes and Lashley lifts him up with one hand, following it up with a huge spinebuster type powerslam. Lashley lines up Striker and hits the spear for the pinfall at 7:01. Burke and Striker look on from the ramp and then come down to run down Striker for losing. We focus on Lashley as the show closes.

    Winner: Bobby Lashley

(Didn't like the fact that Lashley dominated against 3 young and good wrestlers. WWE should stop making him look like a Superman. After Sabu leaving, and now probably the rest of the Originals will follow, the best thing to do is to close down the third brand)

WWE Judgment Day 2007 PPV card updated

Here is probably the final card for the WWE Judgment Day PPV. It looks very promising.

John Cena (c) vs The Great Khali for the WWE Championship

May 20 will truly be Judgment Day for WWE ChampionJohn Cena as he defends the gold against one of his largest challenges to date: The Great Khali.

Khali first made it known that he wanted the gold on the Raw following Backlash, attacking Shawn Michaels,Edge and Randy Orton en route to destroying Cena during an in-ring confrontation. He earned the Judgment Day match one week later, defeating HBK to earn the No. 1 contender spot.

Cena has defeated plenty of challengers during his three reigns as WWE Champion, but possibly none have been as dangerous and unpredictable as the 7 foot 3, 420-pound Khali. Will The Champ find a way to put the Punjabi giant down, or will Judgment Day see the beginning of the Khali era?

Edge (c) vs Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship

As first reported by WWE Mobile Alerts, Smackdown! General Manager Theodore Long has responded to new World Heavyweight Champion Edge's heinous actions by placing the Rated-R Superstar in a title match against Batista at Judgment Day.

Speculation within the SmackDown! locker room holds that Long was purely incensed by the calculative, vulture-like manner in which Edge won the gold in Pittsburgh. The General Manager intended on determining the undisputed World Heavyweight Champion in a tumultuous Steel Cage Match between former champion Undertaker and Batista – both longtime loyal SmackDown Superstars. This contest – one of the greatest Steel Cage Matches in WWE history – concluded in a draw as both men escaped the steel entrapment at the same time. That same night, Edge capitalized on an injured, brutalized Phenom (after both the caged encounter and a monstrous beating from a returning Mark Henry) to become the new champion.

Imagine The Animal’s surprise on that fateful evening in Pittsburgh, as he staggered his 300-pound frame to the locker room area after taking The Deadman to a second straight draw inside a steel cage. By the time Batista even made it beyond the curtain, the World’s Strongest Man had already distributed the biggest thrashing of his 11-year career. Then, just breaths later, the Rated-R Superstar had cashed in Money in the Bank to benefit from damage that can be greatly attributed to Batista’s collision with The Phenom.

Now, Edge may have to face his own personal Judgment Day as he steps into the ring with an enraged Batista – the man who put Undertaker through the match of a lifetime only to lose the championship at Wrestlemania 23. Bearing battle scars from months of punishing and arduously contested wars with The Deadman, Batista enters a bittersweet confrontation at Judgment Day. That emotion may unleash a sizeable beast within Batista unlike anything the Rated-R Superstar has ever had to face in his entire career.

Edge may have been grinning madly in celebration of his golden achievement, but that expression of rapture may be wiped permanently from his jaw by a rabid Animal in St. Louis. Will the Rated-R Superstar regret his decision to trade in his RAW colors for a SmackDown hue? Or will he come to Judgment Day with a game plan just as elaborately detailed as the one he employed to seize his very first World Heavyweight Championship?

Vince McMahon (c), Shane McMahon, Umaga vs Lashley for the ECW World Championship

Vince McMahon gained vengeance on Bobby Lashley for his humiliation at Wrestlemania 23 when he took the ECW World Title away from Lashley in a 3-on-1 Handicap Match at Backlash. Now, Lashley will have his chance at revenge when he gets an opportunity to regain the ECW World Title from Mr. McMahon at Judgment Day. But like last time, the deck will be stacked against the former Army sergeant: He will have to battle three men, Umaga, Shane McMahon and the Chairman, to regain his title in a 3-on-1 Handicap Rematch.

Lashley’s road to his Judgment Day rematch has been tortuous. Not only is he tormented by the fact that the Chairman took his title, but he has had to abide by a stipulation to keep his opportunity. Mr. McMahon told Lashley that he must not lay a hand on his son Shane, Umaga or the Chairman unless he was physically provoked. If not, Lashley would lose his rematch. This led to the heroic former champion attacking Umaga’s handler, Armando Alejandro Estrada– who wasn’t protected under the stipulation – on an edition of ECW on Sci Fi.

Since the Chairman won the ECW World Title, there have been dark days in the Land of the Extreme. Will Lashley regain his ECW Title and gain vengeance on his three sworn enemies? Or will Mr. McMahon be his judge, jury and executioner on this Judgment Day?

Chris Benoit (c) vs M.V.P. for the United States Championship in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match

The ongoing conflict between United States Champion Chris Benoit and Montel Vontavious Porter will add another chapter at Judgment Day when the twoSmackdown! Superstars face off in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match for the gold. MVP earned the right to face Benoit once more when he scored a huge victory over former rival Kane in a No. 1 Contender’s Match on SmackDown.

MVP’s pursuit of championship gold has seen him push Benoit to the limit numerous times, only to watch as the experience of the Rabid Wolverine comes out on top. The flashy and confident Superstar has vowed that Benoit will be the first man to lose gold to him.

Chris Benoit remains the United States Champion, and until MVP can find a way to get past the in-ring savvy of the veteran, the only bling the ballin’ Porter can flash is around his neck – not his waist.

    CM Punk vs Elijah Burke

Ever since CM Punk betrayed Elijah Burke and embarrassed him and his New Breed, the silver-tongued pugilist has vowed to get revenge.

Burke personally recruited the Straightedge Superstar to the New Breed in a quest to achieve dominance in ECW. But Punk refused to follow Burke’s lead and “fall in line,” costing the New Breed leader two matches against the ECW Originals.

Burke put Punk on notice on ECW on Sci Fi when he cost him a match against fellow New Breeder Marcus Cor Von and helped damage his ribs. These two ECW Superstars will look to settle their vendetta at Judgment Day. But their battle will be more than a quest for vengeance. Theirs will be a war between two of ECW’s brightest stars and perhaps two sports-entertainment’s future champions.

    Shawn Michaels vs Randy Orton

It will be Showstopper vs. Legend Killer when Shawn Michaels meets Randy Orton at Judgment Day.

The match was made official on the final RAW before Judgment Day, and Orton told HBK that he would be meeting him at his best. Later that night, when Michaels took on Edge in the new World Heavyweight Champion's Raw farewell, Orton made an impact to drive home his point.

As HBK celebrated his victory over Edge, The Legend Killer hit the ring and jumped his Judgment Day opponent. Orton used his fists to batter HBK, finishing off with a vicious low blow. As if that weren’t heinous enough, The Legend Killer then gave Michaels a thunderous stomp to the head, capitalizing on Michaels’ pre-existing ailment. Orton then stood over his fallen adversary with a stern look on his face as the capacity crowd in the Hampton Coliseum sat in stunned silence.

Will HBK be at 100 percent this Sunday and have enough to overcome The Legend Killer this Sunday, or will Michaels become another feather in Orton's cap?

    Carlito vs Ric Flair

At Judgment Day, Carlito will take on his former mentor, the legendary "Nature Boy" Ric Flair.

Weeks ago, Flair chastised Carlito for having no heart and no passion. The Caribbean Superstar took Flair's advice to heart, and began teaming with Flair in a mentor/protege alliance. However, after several losses, Carlito became frustrated and berated or simply walked away from Flair. Finally, during a tag team match against The World's Greatest Tag Team, the Southpaw from San Juan took a page from Flair's playbook and attacked the "Nature Boy."

Now, at Judgment Day, the 16-time World Champion will have a chance to right the wrongs done to him by his Caribbean protege. Will Carlito get taken to school this Sunday, or will the student one-up the teacher?

All in all, a very strong looking card. However, I expect Michaels and Orton to steal the show.
That's it from me for today. Thank you and see you.
